Brazil Offshore Wind & Power-to-X returns to Natal on 10 and 11 June 2024. Join industry leaders, academia and policymakers at the forefront of discussions to drive a more developed and sustainable Brazil!
To adequately address global climate crisis, in which it is necessary to triple renewable energy capacity in order to limit global warming by 1.5°C, offshore wind energy has a strategic role. Brazil, with its offshore wind potential of more than 700 GW at depths of up to 50 metres, stands out to drive global energy transition. Rio Grande do Norte, host of the event and considered the “Disneyland of the winds”, is the national leader in onshore wind energy and has an offshore wind potential of more than 55 GW in shallow waters close to the coast.
In line with the energy transition and in synergy with the offshore wind potential in the country, green hydrogen emerges as a main alternative to replace traditional fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Brazil has global competitiveness of the green hydrogen levelised cost and is moving towards becoming a renewable energy exporter through green hydrogen and other Power-to-X products, such as green fertilizer, green steel and other “green” products.
Brazil Offshore Wind & Power-to-X aims to promote discussions that will define the parameters for the scientific, technological and industrial development of the offshore wind energy sector and its applications in green hydrogen production and Power-to-X products in Brazil. Be part of this discussion!
Our potential, our future!
The 2023 edition was a success with the inauguration of an event dedicated to various aspects of OFFSHORE WIND technology and POWER-TO-X technologies. Now, we are setting the stage for an even more inspiring and innovative event in 2024!
In this year’s event, the focus is on showcasing the potential of offshore wind and Power-to-X technologies for Brazil and discussing strategies for their development, with a focus on six key areas:
Developed in collaboration with experts from Europe and Asia, the event is a joint organization between CREATION Research Group of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), and the Secretariat of Economic Development of Rio Grande do Norte State (SEDEC-RN).
