ABOUT THE EVENT

The effects of global warming on the planet demand urgent actions. One of the measures is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil energy sources with renewable ones. Offshore wind energy is one of the main alternatives for this purpose. Brazil has a high offshore wind potential, and the state of Rio Grande do Norte, national leader in onshore wind, is considered the “Disneyland of winds” and has an offshore wind potential of more than 55 GW in shallow waters and near the coast. Considering the promising scenario and the global competitiveness of the levelized cost of hydrogen, the opportunity arises for Brazil to export energy from renewable sources through the “hydrogen” energy vector, Power-to-X, green steel, and other “green” products.

The objective of the workshop is to discuss and clarify guidelines for the scientific, technological and industrial development of the offshore wind sector and its applications for the production of green hydrogen and Power-to-X products in Brazil.

PROGRAMME

The COP “Conference of the Parties” is an association of signatory member countries of the convention, to assess progress in dealing with climate change on the planet. The COP annual meeting began in 1995, in Germany, and Brazil, a candidate to be the host of COP30, can present its potential supplier of clean energy to countries that have shortages. One of COP actions is the discussion and dissemination of sustainability actions with the use of energy from renewable sources.

 The event includes lectures, panels, and a short course on the following topics:

  • World outlook of offshore wind energy;
  • Global development of offshore wind energy and power-to-x;
  • Regulatory aspects for offshore wind development in Brazil
  • Development of green hydrogen and Power-to-X sectors in Brazil
  • Planning for Brazil’s offshore wind and Power-to-X development
  • Development of offshore wind farms and green hydrogen projects in Brazil
